My dog always chases the neighbour's cat when it comes in the garden and the cats does run away. If the dog tries to chase the cat near its own house then the cat beats the dog up. They seem to know their own territories and clearly a cat seems to think your garden is part of its! If you don't fancy a dog how about a big water pistol? |

Read an article in the local paper a few years ago about a man with the same problem, which he solved by visiting his local zoo and getting a sack of lion dung that he spread about his flower beds. It got rid of all the cats and dogs, don't know about the flowers though. |

| | | Re: Help rid me of these cats PLEEEASE! Sorry but you will never get rid of them perminently, You may temporarily scare them off but they will soon get use to what ever you use and return..
We have 11 cats next door and with my two alsatians and a constant spray of cold water from hose pipe they most of the time keep away or walk across the area the dogs dont go in..
But we have just been away for 4 days and the cats have noticed and been regularly walking and using the garden
Imagine their surprise yesterday when they jumped down into the garden to be met by the dogs!!!! they only just made it to safety... they havent ventured in today

I have an air rifle, NOT to shoot the cats but the clack of the shot plus the buzz of the pellet also whanging on an object near them now makes them gallop across the garden, the pond is out of range so I set the hose up to cover most of it, and turn it on from the house, now they hear the hiss of air before the wet stuff arrives and do a runner.
I like cats, used to have some.
Max.

I have two cats which to keep them off certains areas of the garden i put down Holly leaves tree, most of my neigbours also seem to have both cats and dogs so the cats seem to know where they can go ..I also have a dog which gets on well with my cats but god help any others that come into the garden ...Being a ex- racing greyhound she can move some..
Reading the other posts you need something to frighten them off after a while they will get the messge ...thats the best thing....
Good luck ...
