My family have always loved the countryside and from a young age i have been taken on walks and away in the caravan to lake district, peak district scotland e.t.c. But what got me into Wildlife was (suprisingly) Alan Titchmarsh's British Isle's a natural history. I enjoyed it so much i watched David Attenbroughs Life in the Undergrowth, and from there I started to watch Springwatch Autumnwatch etc. My favoite of all these programmes is the nature of Britain.

I've always liked wildlife, living in the countryside it's part of growing up & i spent many an hour looking for wildlife with my brothers & mates. As for filming wildlife that's down to johnny kingdom as soon as i saw his wildlife programmes i thought i wouldn't mind doing that & so i started. At first i was very poor & could hardly get near the deer let alone film them. But having now had just over a years experience i can get so close & the best thing is the wildlife doesn't even know i'm there. |

| | | Re: Who inspired your interest in wildlife? I have always loved flowers and when living on a dairy farm on Dartmoor discovered a love of all things wild.
My mother always told me what the flower names were and during my teenage years I was called a Hippy!!
Having not had any contact with my biological father for 33 years, it was great when I traced him to learn that he not only has a passion for wildlife and plants but has spent most of his life studying and collecting fossils. A true natural historian.
It must have been in the genes!! |

| | | Re: Who inspired your interest in wildlife? When I was a child me and my dog used to go to the local woods. There was a stream where I used to catch sticklebacks and frogs. It was a very quiet, secluded and peaceful place. I loved it there. It was like an oasis in the middle of a big town. |

He retired from his job in SEPA a few years back. He has always been into wildlife and was excited when i decided to do the animal biology degree!
I had the sort of childhood where i was outside all the time sticking my fingers into all sorts (not dodgy i promise!). I used to be enthralled with a hole in the ground where bumblebees used to go in and out. I remember a neighbours son stuck a stick down it and i got really annoyed with him!! |

She used to take me to the WWT centre at Arundel from a very young age..I've still got my first pair of Boots Admiral Binoculars that she bought me at the age of 5, which I could hardly lift at the time! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
