Scops Owl

Hello, am new but really want to know does a Scops Owl sound like a fire alarm with a dead battery, i have been hearing the same noice for about 2 months I have changed the battories in my alarms and have traced the sound to outside somewhere up! I live in devon is it likely????

the scops owl isn't really a british species so not particularly likely though I think they turn up from time to time.

It couldn't be anything electrical outside could it?

Are the sounds single bleeps or more complicted noises. House Cricket is a possibility if so.

We had a young greenfinch in our garden for a couple of days and it sounded exactly like the low battery warning of a smoke alarm You got a greenie colony?
