| | | Litter along motorways I live in Kent which is served by several large motorways and A roads. Unfortunately there is always a new one being built or widened. Whilst travelling along these roads it sometimes beggars belief at the amount of litter and trash caught in the verges, bushes and trees that the council plant there to 'create a good environment'. It is a horrendous problem, with some parts beginning to resemble a landfill site. It makes me so mad to see all this filth, that has been caused by unthinking and uncaring road users. So many times, when I have been travelling behind a car, someone winds down a window and chucks out the Big Mac packaging, sweet wrappers, coke bottles etc. Who on earth do these people think they are? I have spoken to the council about it but they have a rolling programme of cleaning up behind these filthy people. I really think it's time to imprison people who do this.
Sorry to get so heated about this but it really concerns me about all of the poor creatures that this is harming apart from it being such an eye sore.ww |

| | | Re: Litter along motorways I understand your frustration when you see all this litter ww but unfortunately not everyone has the same standards or attitude towards the enviroment.
That's human nature at work i'm afraid.
I am quite sure if you took a dustbin and dumped it in there front garden they would soon complain but to them it's ok to chuck it out of a car window.
Out of sight, out of mind. |

| | | Re: Litter along motorways Yep you are right. It is very poor. On a lighter note I am constantly amazed by the genorosity of those that stand the full lengths of the UK's motorway network, usually in filling stations, with signs telling people where the motorway leads to. And in all sorts of weather too. Fair play to them.

Is that a good thing?
What I lack in looks I make up for in humour

| | | Re: Litter along motorways Actually, thinking about it, if they really want to make themselves useful they could tend to the litter, instead of just standing there. Besides, I have Sat Nav. I will suggest it next time I drive past one (in my lovely warm, shiny fat Merc)
