| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry The Bottom Of My Garden
At the bottom of my garden where the wildlife play
Scurrying
Hurrying
Never even worrying
At the bottom of my garden through out the day
Sneaking
Seeking
Now and then just Peeking
At the bottom of my garden ‘til the end of the day
At the bottom of my garden where the wildlife play
Night time
Bed time
Even fast asleep time
At the bottom of my garden at the end of the day
Lightly
Nightly
Eyes closed tightly
Ready for the morning of a bright new day

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry Cold wind blowing
Cold winds are blowing all around snow is falling
Trees stand naked as the ground turns white
Birds fluff up feather
Creatures huddle up together
To keep themselves warm on a cold winter’s night
Christmas is upon us and Santa’s donned his gear
Ready for the children with a present or a toy
Church bells are ringing
Choir boys are signing
Everyone is partying and filled with the joy
As I snuggle by the fire nice and warm on Christmas Eve
I think of all the creatures that are great and small
How they keep themselves warm
All through night until the dawn
And I’ll wake up Christmas day and greet them all
I look into the garden as the snowflakes flutter down
From the window in a room full good warm of cheer
For the birds I’ve left some seeds
And nuts for squirrels needs
Wildlife too is getting ready for a brand new year

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry The Exe Estuary as I saw it am December 1st
The Estuary
The wind was blowing a Hooley.
The waves were really rough.
This Mallard took off from the Shaw.
And said "You know I've had enough"
The geese they were also honking.
The Wigeons were whistling too.
The seagulls just flew round in circles
Screeching as always they do
Oyster catcher were flocking
As shanks and Curlews joined in
Sanderlings, Turnstones and Godwits
Where adding toward all the din
I stayed a little while longer
Then decided to leave the arena
The wind was sweeping me off my feet
And it was getting, meaner and meaner

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry King of Colour
Beneath that shady spot
by the wild forget-me-not,
near the rock that gets the splashing from the stream.
On the low branch of the willow whose roots form a mossy pillow
stood a Kingfisher
waiting for a gleam.
In a flash caught by the sun
that minnows day was done
as the King of colour hit the water clean.
He added to the view with a rainbow coloured hue
as his wings sprayed Gods clear water
O'er the scene
I sat as still as night
In case the bird took fright,
but for a while he granted me the leave to stay.
In a final swoop of glory he finished my days story
with a beak so full
and then he flew away. |

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry The wonder of the wings
Beating and pushing
Battering and swooshing,
To get that lift off perfect.
There's a rippling rythm as you take off for flight.
Swivelling and swirving,
Circling and curving,
To get the exact movement.
Soon you will arrive at your destination.
Heaving and hovering,
Ever-slowly stopping,
To get your landing precise.
And that, my friend, is the Wonder of the Wings.
Trust me, that was NOT my best!
Last year, I wrote a poem, and I was very proud of it! Here it is: The Dragons Dream
The Dragons Dream on a sunny day,
With lots of time to play.
Where everything's perfect,
And there's nothing to neglect.
There's a delicious feast,
And not a single beast!
Just a Dragon's Dream on a sunny day,
Where the path of happiness leads the way!
And I was only 9 when I wrote that! Shame I've lost my talent, since then!
I didn't write my Dragon one first because it hasn't anything to do with wildlife!

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry No particular piece of poetry but I am much impressed by the Anneliese's work Home
- not just writing poetry but performing it and (this is where I often take issue with 'poets' ) being entomologically correct!
Shouldn't advertise, of course, but she's not Canon or Microsoft and her CD is wonderful. Store | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
