| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry The Kingfisher
I’ve thought of this verse
Whilst with nothing to do
Of the beautiful Kingfisher
Dressed in blue
As he sits on a branch
And is ever alert
He’ll wait and watch
Then dive with a spurt
Into the stream
With his dagger-like beak
But all you will see
Is a flashing blue streak
He swoops and weaves
When after his game
He’s the king of the fishers
So hence his name
He’ the prettiest bird
In the British Isles
And when you see him
He’ll turn on your smiles
These poems that I have written are my own work and have regisered copywrite
you will find more of them a Http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/rhythm
in my secret garden which can be found on the links psge

I've clicked into your website. I'm impressed. I have only read a few poems but your a bit of a star aren't you.
I love the simplicity of the site. That is so refreshing. I have never learnt how to do one, I wish I could, but it is beyond me, plus I don't know anyone that could help me.
I can see you furnishing this site with Poetry for many years to come. I just wish others would give it a try.

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry One of the times I was in Scotland I was deep into the countryside on a summers morning when something happened that has really stuck in my memory ever since. I wrote what I suppose could be loosely termed as a poem about it. See what you guy & gals think.
I LOVE, I CRY
I walk this land where I belong,
my own true world of pleasure,
with rustling leaves and whispering breeze,
and trout filled streams of beauty.
Where the haunting sound of the curlew song
echo around the mountains,
and the eagles soar, as the otters play,
and seals and dolphins plunder.
I love this place, it is so pure,
this piece of Scottish splendour.
But as I watch a mighty stag,
with a crown of velvet antlers,
struts from a wood, just like a king,
before him all is still.
He stops and stares across this land
and I watch in breathless wonder
as he lifts his head, but danger looms,
the eagles screech their warning.
The air is still, the stag takes flight,
this mighty beast is fearful.
A distant crack, a hunter's cry,
The bullet finds its home.
The stag is down, its eyes are closed,
Its breath is clearly fading.
As clouds race by,
the sun breaks through,
but the anger in me is raging,
as one last time it tries to rise
but its clear its life's expiring.
In deep despair I try to speak
but my heart is full of pain.
The curlew sings its mournful song,
it sounds like nature's crying.
The King is dead, he is no more.
Oh! How I hate this land.

It still does for me as it vividly reminds me of what I witnessed.

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry Hi John, this is my poem, I hav nt done many, this one is about my pet rabbits, my white fantail doves, and my hogs that come for supper, and enjoying the garden.
This is my garden,
where I like to be,
Out in the sunshine,
down by the tree,
The bunnies are hopping,
The doves are around,
Flying and picking sticks
off the ground,
Here I stand
at the garden gate,
Thinking of wab,
and how they will rate.
My poem for John,
And a friend far away,
And everyone who’s
posted on wab today,
As evening falls,
A glass of wine,
Sit in the garden,
And everythings fine,
A scent in the air,
A rustle of leaves,
It’s only the hogs,
With their family. Pauline |

Was it a spur of the moment?
Mine are, I cannot sit and write a poem, it just comes into my head and then flows and mosty base on real things that happen |

| | | Re: Wildlife Poetry Hi Beryl, Yes, I just write when I need one, but not often, I usually make birthday cards for family, and put one in about them, usually very silly lol, but only when I have a bit of time which is nt often.
Just been to your site, and my son was coming out of the loo, so read him the toilet one lol, very good, really enjoyed reading some of them, going to go back when I have more time to read the rest, and look around, very interesting, I think your very clever to put it all together.
Glad you liked it John, but I m not much of a poet, just write one here and there. Pauline | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
