Coastal erosion

Visited Robin Hoods Bay yesterday, as interesting and quaint as ever - photo on Northern Landscapes and the Great Outdoors. However, sad to see so much crumbling of the cliffs towards Boggle Hole though it doesn't appear to threaten human habitation.

16.06.05 and we visited a favourite spot, Filey Brig in east Yorkshire. As you will see from the photos on the Gallery - Northern Landscapes - this is another east coast target for erosion with some of the cliffs crumbling away fairly rapidly. At one point the existing footpath on the clifftop is now only about 11ft wide, with steep drops either side - before long I imagine the end of the upper peninsular will be 'denied access' to walkers, fishermen, birdwatchers etc. The lower Brig which is perhaps just over a mile long, may occasionally be accessed at low tide, by the able bodied, when a multitude of rock pools containing a wide variety of sealife are visible. Seals are often seen basking on the rocks here too and there is a great diversity of birds, some ground or rock nesting, presently in situ. Then of course, there is the general seashore of Filey to investigate - ah well, never enough time to do everything!!!
