| | | Scope to video camera Any reason why this would not work?
I have a really good video camera that does not get much use.
It has a great Carl Zeiss lens and takes excellent stills at 3 megapixels. Any reason why it would not attach to a scope, given the right adapters?

| | | Re: Scope to video camera it should work ok but....and i stress this next part....it will depend on what scope you've got how well the pictures come out. this isn't something i'm very familiar with, but i imagine, just as with cameras, the better the scope, the better your video will be.

What scope do you have, and does your camera have a filter thread on the lens? There are plenty of adapters available, both from scope manufacturers and from independants like SRB Griturn. Before buying an adapter, try holding your camera up to the eyepiece of your scope and see what sort of image you get. Look especially for vignetting. Fixed eyepieces generally give better results than zoom, you can use the zoom on your camera to change the image size. A lower magnification eyepiece - say 20x is a good choice. |

Get theesen down to Jessops at Hinckley Rd. Leicester and have a play with their scopes and ask about the camera adaptors. get a 30D hanging off a scope and see what you think.
then get a video similar to yours hanging off!
They should be able to set up something decent for you to get a feel of.

They sell scopes from all the top manufacturers and being birders themselves have considerable experience in both the usability of the scopes and with digiscoping. I've bought all my birding equipment from them and have been delighted by the service. You'll probably find them cheaper too. |

Blows everything else out of the window, but at £1650 for the body, zoom eyepiece and case, it will be a while before I trade in my Flourite 82!!!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
