cheaper eye cups

Hi Everyone

I have some Steiner Skyhawk 10x42.

For some time, the right eye cup has been threatening to leave home and now it has.

Could anyone please suggest where I could get a replacement for less than the price I've found - which is £18 (not including postage and packing to France, needless to say....................)

Several suppliers show when doing a web search. - But you would need to determine whether what they have will fit the specific diameter of your binoc. eyepieces.

Might also be worth looking at rubber eyecups used on stereo microscopes, and on the type that fit onto airgun telescopic sights. - They generally sell for a couple of pounds.

Thanks Lancashire Lad. I did a search, but didn't come up with anything one could actually call a `spare' which would fit - or that I could trust to fit. Perhaps it's the search engine I use (or the fact that I'm over here and not over there................?)

I'll have another look and try your other suggestions too.

Do you have someone in the uk that could contact the uk importers of Steiner?
They are usually very helpful and do sometimes send spares Free of charge.

Mark- thank you so very much.

That was just what I needed. I spent an hour or so trudging through searches again yesterday. This morning I wrote to what I thought was the Steiner place in Germany and had a reply from someone who suggested I write to the manufacturer direct - (wasn't that who I'd written to? - Apparently not)

She gave me mailing and email addresses - so I copied the enquiry to them.


Had I received your post beforehand, I would have followed through on it immediately. If nothing arrives from Steiner in the next day or so, I shall definitely pick up on what you've sent me (I might well do that anyway - nothing lost).

Thank you very much for letting me know. I don't understand why the internet searches haven't been coming up trumps this time........................
