| | Swarovski Binoculars Excellent Service! We managed to damage Ian's beloved Swarovski bins sometime ago (could be 18 months or more actually - we (read I) just kept forgetting to do anything about them ....) At the time I was driving the camper, the binocs were on the seat - I braked hardish and off they shot down into the door well - bang .... Ouch! One cup completely dented, rubber burst, and prisms out of alignment - view thro gave a headache!
Finally with the Cairngorms hol looming he left the binocs on my desk - on the computer keyboard - I could ignore no longer So after a lot of checking where to send them (Surry) and from there apparently right back to the factory at Absam in Austria. Two or three weeks have gone by and no word except acknowledgement of receipt ....
Imagine my surprise when a UPS van pulled up outside at dinner today (and I think but I've been good - I haven't bought or ordered anything!!) So I sign for the little box and undoing it find Ians bins fully repaired - even right down to a new rubberised cover ... and the charges for all this? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING They get a gold star from me - hows that for after care service and customer care - full marks and a big thank you to them ... |

Gracie tells me this afternoon that this is because Swarovski's are gauranteed for life .... which is brill and I could understand it if the parts had been defective - but we damaged them - plain and simple an accident - just like something slipping thro your hands and hitting the floor - it was accidental damage but not a fault so I was expecting to pay for the repairs .... I've been blowing kisses in the direction of Austria all afternoon!!!

When I went for a binocular upgrade in 2008, I looked at the big three (Swarovski, Leica and Zeiss) and to be honest thought them all optically outstanding and all felt well in the hand. It was Swarovski's reputation for outstanding customer care that finally swung it after much deliberation. Since buying mine, my only dealings with Swarovski have been regarding new lens caps which I'm forever losing. I always offer to pay for the replacements and they always send them me for free! They really are very good.

Cheers,
