recommended x20 hand lens

Iwamoto achromatic (Google it)....but it'll cost ya!

I use an Opticron x20 "18mm double", which gives an acceptable field of view.

I used to use it alongside an Opticron x10 "23mm double" and between the two, had most requirements covered.

I must admit though, nowadays almost all of my hand lens viewing is done with a x10 illuminated "Oxford precision LED Flash Loupe" viewer obtained from Cromwell - Cromwell Industrial Tools UK: Oxford Precision : PM 3010 LED POCKET MAGNIFIER : OXD-316-2010K

I understand that this is very similar to the one by Opticron, but the Oxford (apparently) has better lenses.

I find that the larger and flatter field of view pretty much compensates for the lower magnification. - As far as I'm aware, they don't do a x20 version, (but Opticron do a similarly illuminated x15).
