| | | Bird nest box with camera question Hi there, I am new to the forums. I am thinking of getting my husband a bird nest box with a camera and am wondering if it better to go for the wired or wireless version? Any help would be very welcome as the more I read the more confused I am getting! Thank you

| | | Re: Bird nest box with camera question I think Wireless would be a better option, no wires sticking out of the box and much easier to set up. Just make sure that the nest box isnt too far away as the wireless distance might not be very far.
I have been considering getting one myself and found some cctv cameras that would probably work and had night vision/infared too, then i could buy a nest box too, saving a bit of money as i know the kits can be quite expensive. |

| | | Re: Bird nest box with camera question The general opinion I have gained from asking around, is that wireless boxes are a waste of time and to go for the 'wired' version everytime. I think budget would be a major factor here. I recently bought a box and camera set up from lakeside Optics in Bristol, and for about £80, I think it's superb. Wizzo

| | | Re: Bird nest box with camera question We recently had this dilema and settled for an inbetween solution. The only wires needed are to link the camera to the "wireless" transmission unit and between the receiver unit and the TV/PC etc. Also, the Transmission and reciever units require power. But in between the tranmission and receiving units it's "wireless". This allowed us to put the camera up in our outhouse which has some power and is about 50m away from our house. We get great pictures and it works in the dark too. We got the camera from an online store called Gifts and Presents (gifts-presents.co.uk/for-outdoors/nest-box-cameras/wireless-bird-box-camera). Hope this helps. |

| | | Re: Bird nest box with camera question I tried a couple of wireless nestbox cameras they did not perform at all well and I got my money back. I notice that the BBC nest box cameras are in an annexe to the main nestbox as it is obviously a bigger and better type of camera. BBC Gardeners World fitted a nestbox camera, can anyone say what make it was?
I had a quick look in our reviews section Reviews - Nest Box Camera Kit
