| | | Computer question Hope someone can help, i occasionally go on sites that have short video clips that you can see, but i can no longer see these. I usually get a message stating i either need the latest macromedia viewer ,or i have Javascript turned off.
I have downloaded the latest viewer so i suspect it must be a Javascript problem, where do i enable this?.
I have the following,
Windows XP
Zone Alarm
AVG
Ccleaner
Reg Scrub
AD-aware.
I am a computer divvy so please don't be too techy .

To view the clips on the website, you need to have either Windows Media Player or QuickTime player installed. You will also need to have JavaScript enabled, or switched on, in your browser. This is normally the default setting.
Not sure of your browser so:
In Internet Explorer for Windows click on Tools > Internet options > Security > Custom Level. Then scroll through the list of settings until you get to "Scripting" near the bottom. Check that "Active scripting" is set to "Enable" by making sure the "radio button" next to it is marked.
In Opera click on Tools > Quick Preferences and check that "Enable JavaScript" is ticked. You can also click on Tools > Preferences to set more preferences for JavaScript. In the Preferences box, the "Enable JavaScript" checkbox can be found under "Multimedia".
In Mozilla or Netscape click on Edit > Preferences. Open the "Advanced" option from the list and select "Scripts and Plug-ins". Check that the appropriate checkbox is ticked under the "Enable JavaScript for" heading.
Hope this helps

You do seem to have gone overboard with the protection

I just hoped someone may have been down this road and found a solution.

It’s possible that you do not have the right “codec” installed. You probably can hear it but have no visual … can you confirm this! Meanwhile you could:
Open the Performance tab under Tools\Options then click on the Advanced button.
Within the Video Acceleration settings, check the 'use high quality mode' box.
Check also that the 'use overlay' box is unchecked in advanced settings and all of the other boxes are checked for Video Acceleration.

| | | Re: Computer question Thanks again John, i cannot hear any sounds, also i cant find a performance tab so cannot try your options. unless i'm doing something wrong at my end (quite probable). | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
