In the end I went to a specialist optician who worked out that the angle of my head gave completly different readings through the veiwfinder. The answer was as simple as long range glasses for photography. Now in the days of auto-focus, I don't use them, but still get a blurred image through the veiwfinder sometimes. This is probably not very relevant, but I wondered if the same could happen with binocs?

| | | Re: Spectacle wearer and binoculars as far as cameras go it is also worth noting that most eyepieces (on slrs at least) have a dioptre adjustment - I found this out by accident when i knocked mine round and couldnt wok out why everything was blurry - bods sussed it for me , which was lucky - this means that ifyour eye sight only needs minor correction you can adjust the camera and dispense with glasses all together while taking shots

davew | Yes Dave, I wear varifocals and find I have to be quite exact as to the angle I look through the viewfinder on a camera. Now you've got me worried that my photos are blurry and I don't realise plus my wife has just reminded me that I haven't been to the opticians for nearly 4 years and that she keeps telling me. I suppose I'd better go. It's the same with binocs but the way you have to sight with specs makes things uncomfortable, however they are a very cheap pair (they have'nt been designed for spec wearers in mind).
Anyway thanks to everyone for your assistance - you've been a great help. |
