Natural England are running a competition to find common names for 10 species which currently only have their official latin name. Natural England - Name a species competition 2011

And, yes, I do have a personal interest in one of the photos. No money though, just a tiny bit of fame.  |

What a genius idea! What a brainwave!
Lets do the same for some of the plants as well!
Lets give proper nice english names to:
Geranium
Eucalyptus
Tulip
Chrysanthemum
Rhododendron
Fuchsia
Asparagus
Aspidistra
and lots of other plants with difficult foreign names. | | |
