I reckon that for the price they are amazing.
If you have multiple kids to buy for I can think of no better present for the ones who are into wildlife.
Lancashire Mike. I take your point about quality of image. All that I need to do is identify arthropods and molluscs often in situ. These instruments are cheap and robust. With just a laptop and scope they are easy to use in the field and the graphics are more than equal to the task for me. They are also much less frustrating than trying to teach children and adults to use a hand lens.
On the subject of hand lens, there is firm (UKGE)who supply excellent plastic 4 element 10x handlens`s for around £10 per dozen. (talk to them nicely and they will remove the postage cost) I cannot fault the equipment or the service. For education centres etc I can`t see that you can go wrong with these.
