| | | Hand lense for field use I cannot find the thread but someone enquired about a hand lense
I believe I recommended a 10x magnification 20mm dia lense
I have since been corrected and 6x-7x magnification are better
because of their greater depth of field when viewing three dimensional
objects such as bees and insects etc. Tips for selecting a hand lens magnifier for geology or earth science

I think it all depends what you want to use it on. For general purposes I'd go for double ended one with x8 and x15 if you can get them. Good ones (try Alana Ecology) can be quite expensive c.£30 or so.
