| | | Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training...
Carl didn't want me to post these, but I felt that if anyone wanted to build their own, this is the result! |

| | | Re: Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training... Dave, was hoping it would inspire those on a shoestring - Carl works part time and I'm disabled, so can't afford to throw £200 on a hide. Thanks for the comment!

| | | Re: Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training... It works I can vouch for that, I discovered the same set up last summer believe it or not. Andy found a green one in Lidl for £6 for me. Worth keeping an eye on Lidl or Aldi they do have useful stuff there every now and then.
If you can set it up with some bushes directly behind you then all the better. The only downside to the hide was the crouched over position you have to sit in, which can give you back ache if you're in there for some time but otherwise it really does the trick.
Well done for the heads up Amber |

| | | Re: Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training... Bought myself one of these from Argos last weekend, £29, it's slightly higher than most so hopefully I won't have to bend my back too much. Yet to try it though, hopefully will be set up on Saturday.

| | | Re: Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training... Your local QMS or Army Surplus store should become a very good friend. The Scrim was £12, the bivvy a fiver. The lens cover a velcro'd part of a camo scarf for less than £2 and Carl's neck gaiter £3.99. We're hoping that the weekend will throw up better light and we'll be by the river, waiting for the kingfishers! |

| | | Re: Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training... I like it! Shows good imagination, and in use it'll no doubt be just as effective as an expensive hide. I'd love to be able to use something like this, but my back problem just about rules it out.
It certainly the way to go to get your Kingfishers! |

| | | Re: Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training... As a partially disabled person myself, I find bending and crouching almost impossible for
extended periods, so am making a hide for the garden from an old darkroom tent and a
fishing umbrella, this gives me headroom. Will submit pictures when completed.

davew | You and me both! I'd be very interested to see what you come up with. |

| | | Re: Less than £20 and a Blue Peter training... The position of the viewing slit could be problematic - I've a low seat from a rucksack to sit on that is comfy and allows viewing. But if you're constantly changing height, then the viewing slit could be difficult to position. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
