| | | Protection for lense. Hi,
I have just purchased a Sigma 50-500mm lense, and would like to find an outdoor protective cover for it. Does anyone on here know of a website or shop in the South, where I might find something like this? Apart from Wildlife pics, I also take Speedway pics, so I would like something that keeps the dust and rain out. I will be grateful for any info on this. Thanks, Southcoastcowboy. |

Exactly the same as the ones I suggested only yours are £1.71 more expensive, but then he could get that discount if he drops your name

| | | Re: Protection for lense. Myself I would sooner spend the extra £1.71 and buy from WWS, mainly as I would be supporting a local one man band business, and not giving it to a huge wealthy company like WE.
But thats just my opinion.

| | | Re: Protection for lense. I like to think I`m helping out a person who is a genuine photographer who develops, designs and makes his products in a converted Barn behind his house and field tests them first and knows what nature photographers require, you speak to him 9 times out of 10 if you order by phone.
This means a lot to me and other nature photographers.
But if you would prefer to support a multi million pound huge internet based company and speak to call centre sales staff in a huge open plan office, who only know what it says in front there computer screen, for saving the measely amount of £1.70 which is a drop in the ocean when you add up all your camera gear costs.
But like I said I would sooner support a very small up and coming British Company, but it seems I`m in the manority. |

| | | Re: Protection for lense. What if Kevin became so successful that he started to turn over millions and millions of pounds? (Which, good luck to him if he does) Would you stop going to him and find someone else?
Fact is that WE do a grand job and keep many people in work, and are no doubt an important customer of Kevins so my guess is that he would not be so disparaging of them.
Besides I would imagine they were not always a multi million pound internet company and their owner had to start somewhere and probably still assumes massive risks daily.
Looking at your kit I guess that if the layman bought the same 'get up' from Joes Photography in Market Square, as opposed to a larger trader, he would have spent some 30-40 % over the odds.
You talk of a measley £1.70 but how much discount did you expect Kevin to give when the buyer 'mentions your name'?
I agree with your principles, but you do have the benefit of making a living from your hobby and no doubt get discount yourself for the amount of business you send Kevins way. Just my opinion.
