Just noticed that ALDI have a 1280x1024 pixel resolution USB microscope that does magnifications of 10x, 60x, and 200x, on offer this coming Sunday at £29.99.
Now, I don't for one second think that this will be a top class instrument, but for £30.00, it might be worth a punt for those who just want to have a bit of a dabble with microscopy as a means of getting images onto computer.

Just found some details of this gadget here: - Traveler USB-Microscope Under the Microscope
Other than having the appearance of a toy, for the price, it looks like it might give quite reasonable results.
EDIT - The specification details seem to be somewhat confusing.
Apparently the unit delivers 1280x1024 pixel still images, but 640x480 pixels when recording in video mode. It is a 1.3Mp device. (Details obtained from www. traveler-service.de website).

many thanks for this info mike, i'll certainly give it a go for £30, results will be appearing in posts , hopefully next week. |
