| | | Re: "cold light" torch for bat work noo noo noo maglites are so last year. Probably the best torch £ for lb on the market, as Jim says, is the Tesco 2xC battery Cree. Its excellent.
If you really want a really excellent torch look at a Fenix L2DCE. Honestly it is the best on 2xAA batteries.

Total £30.19 and hardly pocketable | It's not meant to be pocketable - it's meant to be a hefty lump of kit! Quote: |
If you feel the need to keep a defensive device - get a kubaton.
| The police aren't going to approve if they find a kubaton in your car, whereas a 6D Maglite is just another torch!

| | | Re: "cold light" torch for bat work Aha so I'm not the only one with a fetish for torches then. I have an old faithful Draper which takes 4 x D batteries, I use it when dog walking. It could easily be turned into a defensive weapon, bit like a maglite in that it has a long stem with a heavy head but nicely balanced & as it's rubber you can keep a good grip, light adequate for dog walking. Batteries are a bit expensive tho so it's sitting empty at the moment. Have occaisionally stood in the doorway, idly bouncing the head against my palm while looking speculatively at Hubbie ! Only joking, love him really.

As I mentioned earlier, I'd keep away from ones described as 'tactical' or indeed 'Police Tech'. The fancy names are just an excuse to command fancy prices!
A 6 'D' cell Maglite is useful in the car, not just a a torch, but for defence. If you need to use it for such, remember to hold it at the head end so it can't be easily pulled from your grip!
Jim | I am Meta menardi and I am a torch-aholic. I haven't bought one for nearly a year, but I do feel my resolve wavering.

I've bought lots of these and at £1.25 each delivered, given them to my daughters and friends. They're really handy, bright, waterproof and last for ages on 1 AAA cell. 7dayshop.com - Online Store
Jim
P.S. I must count up my torches one day! |

I took your tip a while ago Jim and bought a very cheap small flexible tripod and am also using 7dayshops own brand rechargeable AA's 2800 mAh. Good products. |
