I use PS CS2. Is there somewhere that I can tell it to save EXIF data on modified images ?

I've look all through the Prefs and can't see owt. Does the option exist?

If modified in CS2 the EXIF should still stay in the photo. If modified in MS Photo editor it has gone I think for good. But not 100% sure

Ah, it does if its saved in the same file format; but not, it seems, if its saved as jpeg.

It should still save the EXIF. All my shots show the data, and I save in jpeg. I've just copied this from the Photoshop help file:

"In most cases the metadata remains with the file even when the file format changes, for example, from PSD to JPG. Metadata is also retained when those files are placed in an Adobe InDesign layout."

So I'm confused if yours is missing?

The method to preserve EXIF data varies among image editing programs.

To preserve EXIF after editing an image, use the Save AS command (not Save or Save for Web) from the File menu. The Save As dialog window opens.

Select JPEG from the Format drop down menu, give the file a new name, then click the Save button.

The EXIF data will remain embedded in the new file. You should always edit copies of originals. If you make a mistake, start over using another copy of the original.

Ah, that explains it. I always work form the original and always Save As. Thanks John.

Therein lies the answer. As my pics are for my Website, I usually use Save for Web.

I shall alter my practice.
