| | | Deerhunter Clothing Just taken delivery of a brand new Deerhunter Ram jacket.
Now I did have reservations about buying a product from a company associated with killing animals rather than protecting them. Unfortunately all my morals went out of the window when I saw it on e-bay for £65 rather than the rrp of £149.99. When you look at the price of similar products from more wildlife-friendly companies like Paramo and Country Innovations, I just had to bite the bullet.
Sorry.
So what does this kit offer to a wildlife enthusiast?
Firstly it's made from a product called Deer-tex which it's claimed is waterproof, windproof and breathable. It's also rustle free so I can sneak up on animals without being heard (purely to observe them, not to shoot them)
Secondly it comes in a Realtree APG camo pattern which means I'm as difficult to see as a Sheffield Wednesday victory.
Other benefits include plenty of deep pockets, under-arm air vents, reinforced shoulder panels to take the wear from my tripod and a pull out seat flap that allows me to sit down in the field without getting my bottom wet.
A very well thought out product.
Unfortunately due to the man flu, I haven't been able to use it in anger yet but if anyone's interested I'll let you know how I get on. |

| | | Re: Deerhunter Clothing I can highly recomend getting the "Ram" trousers to go with the jacket, I have been using The Jacket and Trouser combination in "Advantage Timber", for a year now, Dry Warm and as you say very quiet. I have actualy had a pair of Roe deer jump over my legs while runing from a loose dog.

| | | Re: Deerhunter Clothing I've been using 'Deerhunter' camo clothing (jacket and trousers) for a couple of years now and it's very good indeed.
Like Kev, I've had some very close encounters with nature whilst wearing it - including birds landing on my legs whilst lying in the undergrowth!
My only complaint is that it's just too warm in summer, even with the under-arm air vents open.
Finally, if you want to get really close to the wildlife don't forget to cover your head and hands as well. I have some excellent neoprene camo gloves and also wear a camo head net/hat.

Jeff | A good point which I forgot to mention. The jacket is much more padded than I was expecting so I'll only be using it on colder days.
Going to give it a go on Cannock Chase this weekend. Hopefully the deer won't see me coming. |

| | | Re: Deerhunter Clothing I have deerhunter pants and jacket in advantage camo, great in the woods for getting close to wildlife.
I would also recommend the harkila prohunter jacket. Mine isn't camo but a dull green colour and is %100 waterproof even in a heavy storm. It isnt much good in summer as its to warm but ideal in winter. My son has the prohunter jacket and pants.
I wish clothing manufacturers would make leg sizes to fit me, i always seem to struggle as ive only got little legs.
Id pinch my sons but hes 6ft 4 |

| | | Re: Deerhunter Clothing Hillman kit is excellent gear. I bought one of their jackets last year and rarely wear anything else, quiet, warm, but comfortable in Summer, waterproof, pockets everywhere, longer in the sleeve too. I can't fault it, camo and sherwood colours. good kit
