| | | Taking Pictures with binoculars. I've been considering a form of Digiscoping, and was wondering if anyone else had tried it and if so was it OK?
What I'm considering is using my binoculars as a form of telephoto lens, (with an F adapter) 10x binocular magnification is much greater than digital camera lens 10x, so I was wondering what the pitfalls to this form of imaging are. I imagine you'll loose a fair bit of light so the aperture may be restricted, and it could be a bit of agro in setting it up, but it's a relatively cheap method and may be worth trying.
Anyone else tried it? |

| | | Re: Taking Pictures with binoculars. when I was a youngster I used to hold a set of non prismatic binoculars in
front of a very basic kodak camera and get good results which always puzzled the local chemists staff who developed the film the main stumbling block was eye relief.
nowdays there are sites on the web that offer allsorts of adaptors and even custom manufacture I always feel that it is good to try things for yourself the sense of achievement is character forming but this must be weighed against practicality and cost
If you tie up the binos with an adaptor there will always something you need to look at with them,it could be cheaper to look around for an old cheap mirror lense with a set of adaptor rings for instance I found one in one of those camera stores that specialised in second hand cameras |

| | | Re: Taking Pictures with binoculars. Good point, I have just discovered hidden away in the loft some "old" binoculars, (10x50) so the only expenditure would be the lens adapter which I can get for around £25.00.
I think I'll give it a go.( I've waisted much more than that on frivolous pastimes!) If I get any decent pictures I'll post them here. |
