| | | Torchy the Battery Boy Have a maglite solitaire for light (sorry) duty. But what is best for night walking, preferably bright enough to cope with a red filter on it for wildlife viewing. Would headmounted be better? |

| | | Re: Torchy the Battery Boy Petzl do a cracker of a headlight with a red filter,
and LED lights are best for battery life.Search online
you cannot beat a big rechargable but they can be costly
again be patient and shop around,it is all a trade off
I use a headlight an led torch from hennie haines and
an AA recommended rechargable from a petrol station for under a £10

| | | Re: Torchy the Battery Boy Been looking at led vs krypton. Some seem to have enough leds to illuminate the craft in close encounters! |

| | | Re: Torchy the Battery Boy Whats your budget?
Without knowing your budget, if your looking for a torch then it starts with Surefire and its downhill from there.
If youre after LED and have the wonga then this is the baby to go for. |

| | | Re: Torchy the Battery Boy I just bought one of these: Fenix Store Fenix L2T
for my daily walk home from work and it is a cracking torch if you are after a handheld. A nice bright spot that illuminates a fair distance ahaead along with a decent amount of 'spill' so you can see where you are putting your feet.

The best option is to aquire night vision! It's hard these days as everywhere is lit-up too much, but you can sensitise your own eyesight by wearing sunglasses all day before going out after dark. You'll be suprised how quickly your eyes can adapt. Pick a night with at least a half-moon. The experience can be particularly illuminating! |

| | | Re: Torchy the Battery Boy A lot of us bushcrafters use these lights, they are superb and hands free. They will take a red filter too and are very bright, esp on boost mode... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
