| | | digiscoping !!!! hi all !!!
i was at marshide southport yesterday morning and met a birder from bolton who was using a scope and digi camera ( with a remote control) and showed us all in the hide how clever and fairly easy he used it !
what i want to know is who else is using digi scopes and what are you using..it was very impressive to see how the scope and digi camera worked together and the results he showed us were quite amazing...i think he had a opticron 80mm ed scope with a samsung camera..any help on the equipment you are using and why would help me decide what i should go for when i do...i am also using a 80mm opticron ed scope !
many thanks boogle ! |

many thanks boogle ! | I've used both a Nikon coolpix 4500 in the early days and now have a Nikon P5000 attached to my Leica 77 APO. There are quite a few cameras which lend themselves to digiscoping the Nikon P5000,P5100 and P6000 to name but a few. These cameras and the associated kit required to digiscope are often coming up for sale (secondhand) on various Bird watching forums. Without wishing to offend this excellent website, try Birdforum there is no end of information to be found. It is an excellent pass-time but not as easy as you might think to get good photo's.

| | | Re: digiscoping !!!! there is an active digiscoping forum on Yahoo groups.
I've played with it, but not found it very successful. I have a friend with a Swaro scope that is very good with it though - I think my scope doesn't cut the mustard for digiscoping. (Viking) |

many thanks boogle ! | Hi Boogle,
It may be worth looking at the optiron website, they do have dedicated adapters for the different eyepieces, I dont know which cameras they support, but I have a camera of the make you mentioned that came as part of a kit that they market last year.
Just a comment that they suggest only using a low magnification eyepiece.
Have fun, I throw away most of my shots, with just a very few good enough to keep!
