| | | Sigma 70 - 300 DG Macro A recent purchase for me has been the Sigma 70 - 300 DG Macro simply as straight replacement for a a "bottom end" canon 70 - 300 zoom that I have not been entirely happy with on my EOS300D. Sadly could not afford any more than the £185 I paid for this lens. Just wondering if any other have used this lens, especially its macro settings. |

I have this lens as well as the bigma. It's not a bad lens, but I did find the macro end of the lens to be lacking a little. I could not get good sharp images from it hand holding. Had to have it on a good sturdy tripod and needed very good light as well. The slightest movement seemed to be all that was needed to blurr the photo, on the plus side I took some excellent images at the 300mm end of the lens. Sorry I can't be any more positive about the macro on it but that's just my opinion.

the macro being at the 200-300 end you do need a fast shutter speed and
a good steady hand/monopod my friend uses one for airshows and always has
good results

| | | Re: Sigma 70 - 300 DG Macro I have taken a lot of my photos with this lens(have a look at my Gallery), I find it a good lens as long as the light is good, I think this is the same for all the similar lenses in this price range. |
