Bin Advice

Hi guys,

I've finallly decided to get semi-serious with my binoculars, and am looking to spend around £100 - £150 on a nice pair of 10 x 40's. Any recommendations? Any ones to avoid? The Camlink Rutland and Opticron Trailfinder II have both caught my eye.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'd try to get to somewhere like the Bird Fair (Rutland) so you could try some in the field as well as in the hand. What shape feels best?
What are you going to use them for? As well as the obvious, I use mine for insects and flowers so close-focus could be important.

I've been happy with my Opticron's but there's plenty of others

Most birders avoid x10 - much more difficult to hold steady.

I've got a cheapo set of 10x50 for the kitchen and unless is
steady my elbos I can't see a thing through them because of
wobble.

Check out the Viking range too - can be tried in all RSPB shops.
