| | | Leki Sierra Photo Trek Pole I'm doing Coast to Coast walk in May, as most of you will probably know by now.
However, I will be taking my Leki Pole. But I only have the one pole and Leki don't make this particular product anymore. I would prefer two poles, but one would be fine. I'm been looking at trekking poles on the web and I've seen a pair I like, but the prices have increased and would cost me £75. I don't really want to pay that price.
I'm taking the compact camera (ofcause) and been looking at this product, Leki Sierra Photo Trek Pole. This would be idea for both the walking and using it as a camera support for point sharp shots and maybe take the other pole as well.
But I'm not convinced by the Sierra pole and have my doubts about it.
What is putting me off, is the handle. It's not like my other Leki pole handle which is great, the sierra as a wooden knob. So with the Go Outdoors store opening next week, I may take a closer look at it.
On the other hand, I've a Jessops mini tri-pod which may do. But I think the Leki Sierra trek pole would fare better for ease of use. |

| | | Re: Leki Sierra Photo Trek Pole Don't have the Leki foxy, but have an old pair of Montrail Viewfinders, which look identical. They're fine as a walking pole, if you use the straps correctly and don't grip the handle, though I don't think the wooden cap gets in the way either way. Also works fine as a monopod and until recently was my only monopod, though I moved to pacerpoles a while ago for hiking. |

As you will be walking across Cumbria, can I suggest you support a Cumbrian home industry and consider a nice pair of Pacer Poles?
There really are the bizz and have been designed by someone who really knows what they're on with.
You'll think you've got wings on your feet and you'll have a much more enjoyable time. |

| Funny, what you are saying about the Pacer Poles. One of the lads in our walking party yesterday, was talking about the Pacer Poles and how there was some good postive reviews on them, mainly about the moulded handles.
I'm not really that bothered now about trek poles, I think I can manage the C2C with a single pole. Also C2C will be my last long distance walk for some years, ( I may be doing the Cleveland Way in September) I'm going back to my cyce touring, which I like to cover 50-60 miles a day. |

I will be doing a day by day report, also photos of cause. training miles to date is 80 miles, that is 5 x Sundays @ 16 miles. With another 6 weeks and a few days to go, I need to also load up the 75 litre ruc-sac with camping gear and get out with the local walking club on the last 4 week-ends prior to C2C, so my shoulders (and knees) get used to the increased weight. |

| | | Re: Leki Sierra Photo Trek Pole Well in the end, I got another trekking pole to match my other Leki. I was in the brand new Go-Outdoors shop and hey what a smashing shop too. I did look at the Leki Sierra pole, but did not impress me, so went for the Leki Makalu Thermolite instead. Guess I will have to take my mini tripod. |

| | | Re: Leki Sierra Photo Trek Pole Ah, I'm too late. I've recently seen a trekking pole/monopod that costs less than £20 and extends much higher than the Leki. |

| | | Re: Leki Sierra Photo Trek Pole What a silly billy I am, I've gone back to Go-Outdoors and got another Leki trek pole to match my Therma-Lite pole. Trouble was the centimetre marks on the Therma-Lite, did not match the ones on the Titanium pole and did seem a little odd.
Anyway, that's rambling for you. Never had trouble like that with cycling
Still, I will be happy as a bunny on them Lakeland Mountains | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
