Jim | true - although if it does its an opportunity to explain to the children that nature is like that (age 4 may be a little young for a full explanation tho this is obviously up to parental judgement.)

It was quite pitiful to see a starving youngster being towered over by its siblings, and ignored by the parents. You see this happening over a few days and begin to wish it would be over with!

| | | Re: Your Camera Nest boxes Very serious incubation happening now as the mother bird is sitting on her eggs all day and night. She has 6 eggs and I think that the father bird is shirking a little on bringing her food.
I hope he will be more helpful if they hatch!!

The only regular visit is a coaltit feeding franticly every day but not nesting in my garden..

| | | Re: Your Camera Nest boxes Our BT did everything she could to hide her eggs from us however we did eventually get a good look at her now 8 eggs. Today she started incubating them however I am not convinced the male is working very hard, I guess we will see over the weekend just how attentitive he is. Roy

| | | Re: Your Camera Nest boxes Congratulations Camo on your 8 eggs, keep us posted.
Our mother great tit is not fed that much by her partner, which is why I think she has laid only 6 eggs.
She has been sitting fast now for days and seems very cosy.
It has poured with rain here all fri night and well into sat night so at least she is keeping dry.
As I have said before it is great as if I watch TV, I skip the ads now to look at the box!!
Although now the TV is on all the time I am in so we do not miss any action.

| | | Re: Your Camera Nest boxes Well done Hobble
How long did they take to hatch? My Blue Tit laid another egg so I think she has 9 but she is sitting tight now so I can't see them.

| | | Re: Your Camera Nest boxes Update:
We have 3 babies and two un-hatched eggs. It is incredible watching them being fed. I became very alarmed this evening when one baby had an enormous grub shoved into it's mouth, it looked like a balloon and I thought it would suffocate but down it went!
Still fascinating and i am amazed at their dedication and tenderness.
