Problem is I know ninnimuggins about Chainsaws, what are good makes to look for & which ones should I stay clear of ?!? If any of you would be so decent to point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful!
Thanks a lot
Jez

Doubtless I'll upset the Germanophiles by saying that. |

Your choice of saw model should reflect the amount and type of work you will be doing with it.
Engine size and bar length will have to be considered too. I have a number of saws (all Huskys) and my favourite is a small 35 cc job that does virtually everything I need.
Have a trawl through the manufacturers websites and get familiar with the models then when you're on the course, have chat with the tutor and see what he/she recommends.
One specification I urge you to check is the vibration figures. The more expensive professional models usually have lower vibration ratings allowing you to use the saw for longer periods which is something your employer should be aware of.
OK, just to be fair, Stihl are all right as well! |

| | | Re: Good Makes Of Chainsaw's I have always used Stihl or Husquvarna. A short bar will do all you want unless you are felling Rain Forest. Do your course on safety, use all the safety gear. It really is so important. The other thing that makes a massive difference, learn how to sharpen the chain and all the things about depth of cut and so on. |

I always use helmet, goggles, gloves, knee pads and my Hoggs Toecaps when out strimming. Just the same when I'm out cycling, I take nothing for granted!!! Thanks for all the help Phil, much appreciated & to Pam for the PM, thanks for all your support!
