| | | Re: spotting scope for sub £100? What magnification are your Dad's binoculars? I'd highly recommend Bresser 10x50s- lovely clarity. At £10.00, they're a snap.
EDIT; I know you're looking for a spotting scope, but good quality bins will do you very well |

EDIT; I know you're looking for a spotting scope, but good quality bins will do you very well | I can vouch for the Bresser 10x50's, I bought a pair yesterday so that I could leave them in the car. (Current offer is £12.70 at Lidl). They have a very bright & crisp image.
Lidl are also currently doing the Bresser spotting scope offer, but even at £98.00, that's quite a lot to risk, if the scope turns out to be useless.
From what can be seen on the box, the specification is pretty good: -
25-75 magnification, 90mm diam. lens, BAK4 (The best quality) prisms, c/w tripod, bag & caps etc.
But it's not the sort of thing you can take out of the box and try in the store.
If it's anything like as good as the bins though, it should be worth the money.
Regards
Mike. |

| | | Re: spotting scope for sub £100? i'm thinking of going along to an optics shop sometime, to ask for advice... its a very high quality shop though... i doubt they do anything under £200, but maybe they'll give me some advice.
there are some bresser scopes on amazon- the safari 15-45x60 and the safari 20-60x80, plus a couple of different 'camlink' ones... but i'm not sure about their quality, they are both under £75.

| | | Re: spotting scope for sub £100? worth considering, yes... the optics shop does do quite alot of second hand equipment... (i think they realise people want quality on a budget ) so i'll definitely go there and talk to them... its a very good shop, with a set of feeders a distance off at the back, to test the product (theres usually a bullfinch there )
focus optics... anyone heard of it?

| | | Re: spotting scope for sub £100? anybody know the camlink CSP60 spotting glass? i've had a look at the specs online, and it seems to be a decent spotting glass for the price
here it is on amazon 'CSP60'
it doesn't show you any infomation about it there (disturbed me abit) but i've found the specs online:
Camlink CSP60 Spotting Scope
20-80 x Zoom eyepiece
60 mm Multi coated objective lens
Dry Nitrogen filled
Waterproof
Fogproof
Retractable lens hood
Large focus wheel
Rubber eyecup
Tripod mount
Carrying case included
Table top tripod included
would this kind of thing be worth considering?
