Lidl Microscope

My 6 year old son has been having a lot of fun looking at tiny creatures and plants with a small handheld pocket microscope. I have just seen that Lidl are about to put on sale the following desk-top 'Biolux NG' microscope for just under 50 pounds:

Does has anyone have any experience or comments on this scope? Wondering whether it would make a good Christmas present for him?

I see the scope comes with 'PC eyepiece with USB connection'. Does this mean one can look at and capture the image directly on one's computer? If so this would seem very good for a young child as looking through eyepieces properly can sometimes be awkward.

You may find some of the replies on this thread of interest, but these replies are on the basis of funtional use for fungi microscopy.

Lidl Bresser NG

From what I have been able to gather, the instrument is aimed at school age children, and can indeed be used to display images directly on to your computer (but the maximum image resolution of the unit's camera is only 288 x 256 pixels).

I note that the unit has been on sale for £117.00, and separate accessories such as mechanical stage etc. can be obtained for the unit.

You may be able to find more info by googling "Bresser NG" or "Biolux NG".

It does look like it would make a good first microscope present for a child.
