| | | Canon Macro Ring Flash Hi folks, I have a canon ringflash, it has not been in use for some time but newly charged batteries are in and it fires when I do a test fire. When it is on the hot shoe it test fires but when I press the shutter it does not fire. I have looked at the pins they seem ok. The hot shoe is OK because it does permit other flash guns to fire.
So any ideas why the macro light does not fire please. Meantime I will try to clean the contacts a bit more on the macro ring flash. All suggestions welcome even if they include buying a sigma gun!!

May sound a strange question but apparently some are not compatible I read |

| | | Re: Canon Macro Ring Flash Only the EX series of flash guns are compatible with the canon dslrs if your gun is an EZ model or earlier it will work fine on your film slrs but not on the digi bodys, i dont think there is anyway of fixing this nor would it be a good idea to try as high voltages from early model guns can completely lunch the circuitry of a dslr.

| | | Re: Canon Macro Ring Flash I think you,re right on the first count, it works after fiddling the alignment of the pins, but only on manual. I hope and pray you are wrong on the second point, I will disconnect immediately. Manual is no good unless I almost completely obscure the flash units with tape. Thanks for the advice, Jon
