| | | Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd Have no idea about cameras but would the above be able to be attached to a scope for taking photos or can you only do this with digital SLRs.
I have a feeling its only dSLRs but thought i'd ask as not sure what fancy gizmos and attachments you can get now.....
thanks in advance |

| | | Re: Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd Hi Hedgeland & welcome to WAB
My daughter has a fujifinepix, S700 (i think!)
You can not change lenses on it. She takes some wonderful photos with it, especially macro shots. Maybe the model your after will have interchangeable lenses, google it & see if you can find out more.
Shop around, my daughter found hers for £100 on Amazon, great buy.

| | | Re: Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd You certainly don't need a DSLR to use for digiscoping, in fact it's usually not the best option. Smaller compact cameras do a far better job. The important point is that the camera should have a threaded end on the lens to attach an adapter that fits into the scope.
I'm not sure which are the best cameras for this, no doubt others will know. |

| | | Re: Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd It's also best to have a lens that doesn't extend when zooming, like the old Coolpix models much loved by Digiscopers, though you only need to zoom about 1x to remove the vignetting. Not sure about latest models so someone else is bound to give better advice... |

| | | Re: Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd thank you for the responses.
Does anyone know of good cameras in the up to £200 mark that can be used for digiscoping then?
What attachment will i need and are they universal?
cheers

| | | Re: Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd Take a look at the Canon range, I have used the Power shot A570IS which can be picked up for well below £200. It is a good camera for digiscoping also later models along the same line work well attached to a scope. I'm now using the Nikon P5000 which again is good for digiscoping. Take a look at Birdforum posts on digiscoping, there are links to suitable camera's and associated accessories required to attach to scope.
