Sigma 150-500mm OS tried or tested?

hi all,

has anyone tried / bought or tested the new(ish) Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 APO DG OS lens,i see alot of pics on here are taken with the older 50-500mm and the quality looks very good,

im currently using a canon 100-400mm and (like all of us) am looking for the most mm for my money,im very happy with my canon dont get me wrong im just looking for something with a little more zoom but at an affordable price,

is the new os version a big enough improvement over the old?

From what I've read so far it's a mixed story. One reviewer was very impressed, another one not so.
If the supposed 500mm is anything like the 50-500mm, the extra really isn't worth bothering with.
Have a look at my tests I did with my Bigma against the Canon 300mm with a 1.4X TC fitted. The image from the Canon @420mm gives a larger more detailed image than Bigma @ 500mm. It's here: Lens test Canon 400mm F5.6 V Sigma 50-500mm Post 41.
Whilst these are obviously not from a 150-500mm, if the lens has the same magnification as the Bigma I don't think you'll gain much if any advantage going from the 100-400 to the Sigma 150-500mm.
