| | | Canon users. Can anyone tell me why when you look in the canon menus at the picture styles for jpeg images the settings for Neutral and Faithful are exactly the same. Yet the resulting pictures in these modes are different.

Regards mark......... | In a word, No. But it is true what you say, as I invariably use neutral to allow for post processing, I have also noticed the repetition of settings resulting in different results between the different standards. I am sure that there will be at least one Canon buff on the forum that will throw some light on this.

Hello Mark I have the Canon 400D and I know what your on about ,I read the magazine dedicated for Canon users a few months back and they were on about this function ,thery stated that it was more of a gimmick and to leave your settings at neutral and do any adjustments in your photo editing software ,hope this helps you out on your problem

It just got me wondering why the pictures looked different in the picture styles menu when they are set the same. I think the settings are a bit gimmicky.
I dont use jpegs much these days but tend to use raw and do the processing myself

| | | Re: Canon users. Mark, as I understand it, the base settings for Neutral and Faithfull picture styles are different, by that I mean although all settings are set to zero, compared to each other there is a difference in how much contrast, sharpness etc is applied to the default image.
Hope this helps,

If you're able shoot RAW and choose what to do afterwards. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
