| | | Re: Going Digital what to do with SLR's and stuff lenses for the T90 and AE will not fit/ work with a canon digital SLR - the EF lens system started with the eos cameras, older bodies used a different system.
Adaptors are available but to be honest its not worth buying a DSLR then using old Manual focus lenses (with the possible exception of macro) , that would be like buying a new ferari but fitting the engine out of your old mini to it and expecting ferrari performance.

(From a trusted internet site) | Sounds ok in theory - certainly you won't regret the 40D - in fact you will wonder what you did before Add the Sigma macro and you've got a good start but you will miss you're 500 ........... maybe the ?150-500 being talked about on here in one of the other threads would be the way to go?? Ask some more and see what folks say.........

| | | Re: Going Digital what to do with SLR's and stuff Hmmm......... just been googling canon site and reading reviews of the lens. It will give you wide angle at 17 but they seem to think there is abberation noticeable until and before 35 is reached. The answer to that is it will probably seem fine to you (and me) and a lot of other folks with not much technical knowledge!
The Sigma 10-20 and or the Canon equivalent (dearer I assume) are the gold standard probably ........... but whether you or I could tell the difference with the same pic side by side I don't know - but I'll happily put it to the test if you get it.
I think it might be described as an average just a bit more than standard lens - can't remember what mine is - but I was told mine is a good person portrait lens and thats been true. I don't think mine is image stabilised - and IS is a useful thing - I liked the look of the blurred water fall pics in the samples esp as they were hand held. As you know if I really want something to be pin sharp then a tripod is the way to go or at least a monopod - it really helps. But with IS on this then grab shots should be very reasonable? And I still say a lot of pics can be salvaged in PSP or Adobe.
If you bought this kit and a 50-500 you would have a lot of situations covered for about £1,500 ........... See what other wabbers think along these lines?
