| | | Recorder 6 users. I have just recieved my standalone copy of Recorder 6 today (Biological recording software linked to the JNCC and NBN Gateway)
I have installed it and have a couple of errors i need to sort out which im hoping to get answers for on the Recorder 6 forum boards...
However, i thought it might be good to at least know of any other users on WAB for future help/chat/reference/tips/ etc...
I know i have talked of this software before which is all i have ever come across in the industry (or the older recorder 2002) however i was shocked that most here had not heard of it and use some other similar software that i cant recall the name of now?..
So am i all alone yet again or is someone else here using recorder 6 ?
Cheers
Dan

I've been thinking about getting it for work -you'll have to let me know how you get on with it.
ps I think the other one you're thinking of is MapMate

| | | Re: Recorder 6 users. Can'r help you at all I'm afraid, this kind of mapping has yet to be adopted in my line of work - thought it is something I am interested in, especially if I can use it in Breeding Bird Survey mapping, do you think that would be possible? |

| | | Re: Recorder 6 users. Recorder 2002/6 is not all about mapping although its a part of it, its a storage/collection for your biological records for field records , survey data and observations too which can then be sent electronically to your local BRC or direct to the NBN gateway.
I cant see how MAPMATE is used in this way?...so im not sure thats the one mentioned by others that i was thinking of?
Ill go look at mapmate now and see what it does...but i thought that was just a thing like google earth or live maps? i shouldnt think it has a huge database of biological and scientific/taxon dictionaries?

Recorder 6 is simply a more up-to-date version with a few more bells and whistles. |

Gill...just google recorder 6 and it will take you straight to their page which explains all that is possible with it.

When consulting someone who uses both he said Recorder integrates better with NBN etc. but MapMate has a more intuitive feel and is used by more amateur recorders.

Do you need the base map to be in a certain format?
Apologies to Dan for thieving part of the thread and to Meta for the 20 odd questions!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
