regards mark.  | They are both fine lens. The main advantage the Sigma has is the extra working distance from the subject. If one of your main interests is insects, this is a major factor to take into consideration. |

My cameras are Nikon so I have no experience with any Canon lenses.
After some bad experiences with third party lenses on my film cameras I swore I would only buy Nikon glass after going digital. I broke that rule with the Sigma 150 purely on the advice of WAB members and after seeing the results they were getting with it. I know Graham (glsammy) has said it's his favourite lens and I would agree with that. It's not the fastest focuser but I use it in manual focus more than 50% of the time anyway. For sharpness, contrast and overall image quality I would rate it as the best lens I own.
