| | | Which camera bag Hi all.
I'm looking to buy a purpose built camera bag for my equipment.
Cost, no more than £75:00
Equipment I need it to hold.
A Sigma, 50-500mm lens, Canon 400mm lens, Sigma 150mm lens A Canon 580EX 11 flash unit, and a diffuser. Better Beamer flash extender, although this fold flat and takes up very little space. An off camera flash bracket and cable. Spare memory cards batteries etc. Two bodies, a Canon 350D and 400D.
Not bothered about room for food drinks etc as I usually return to my car to eat.
I have looked at the Lowepro Slingshot 300AW and the Tamrac Expedition 5x backpack. Anyone had any experience of either of these.
Is it possible to get what I am after for the price or am I being unrealistic in expecting to get something that is good quality and reliable for this price.
Thanks

| | | Re: Which camera bag Roger I have a Tamrac Expedition 7, this may be slight overkill but it is extremely comfortable to carry even when I stuff it with my 500mm and a tripod and a few other lenses and camera along with waterproof trousers & other bits and bobs. Truth is now I need something a little bigger as the 500 is a bit too big for this bag.
I think you will need to look at the various bags I like Tamrac but I also think the Lowepro are good too

| | | Re: Which camera bag The problem is Roger no matter which bag you get it never seems to be big enough.
I currently have a Lowepro Commercial AW, this meets my needs adequately and is extremely well made. Might be a bit big for what you are looking for so I would look at the Compact AW, a bit over your budget at £105 but you get a quality product for your money. The Compact AW will take 2 x Pro bodies, 3-5 lenses along with all the other usual accessories.

| | | Re: Which camera bag Hi Roger,
I have the smaller version of the Lowepro Slingshot so I'm not sure if the 300 will fit all your desirables in but I do like the one I've got. It's really handy to be able to just swing it round to the front to access your camera/ items without having to take it off. The weighting is nicely distributed and it feels comfy with the sling design. I also have found the all-weather cover neatly tucked in a hidden bottom compartment a life-saver (or camera-saver anyway) in a sudden downpour!
If you can get to see one in a shop and you think it will fit your equipment I don't think you'll be disappointed

| Thats the one I have Roger, so I reckon you need the next size up, at least.
They are very comfortable to carry about. |

| | | Re: Which camera bag Thanks for the replies everyone, sorry I haven't replied, been tied up with work and haven't had chance to get on here only for very brief periods.
I have got a Tamrac Expedition 8 second hand but in as new condition from another WAB member at a good price. Probably a little overkill I thought but when I put all my gear in it's not overkill and I'm very happly with it.
I won't mention the members name in case they don't want it made public but many thanks to that member, and for showing me their camera gear when they brought me the bag.

Roger | No problem Roger. Saved me the trouble of flogging it by auction and then having to package/post it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
