| | | Nikon or Bushnell Binoculars Hi
I am trying to decide between the following
Nikon Action VII 8X40 CF Binoculars
or
Bushnell 10x42 Birder Natureview Binoculars
I have jessops vouchers and so choice is limited and I have chosen the above 2 as my final choice for birdwatching.
Hoepfully will get either today. If anyone is reading at the moment any advice would be appreciated.
Regards

| | | Re: Nikon or Bushnell Binoculars You need to try them both out and find out for yourself. I had a pair of Bushnell's several years ago and with hindsight they weren't great, but it was a while ago. The top end Nikon binoculars are excellent, if a little on the heavy side.

Nothing like being decisive I went t o Jessops and tried both couldn't make my mind up and bought both, agreed that I would take one pair back though.
There didn't seem a lot between them so I will be out early am trying both.
Any advice on trying different things??

Neil | Just try them out in situations you would usually expect to use them, dawn dusk, midday, near, far, against sky, vegetation etc.......
Overcast days where light isn't great usually highlights any shortcomings in a pri of bins. And don't forget to consider ergonomics, quite important when you are holding/wearing them all day long in the field. |

| | | Re: Nikon or Bushnell Binoculars Hi Thanks
Just tried them in the dusk not a great deal of difference that I could see. The greater magnification of the Bushnell made it slightly more difficult to hold steady but seemed to give a little bit more detail (not sure if it was 50 pounds worth of diffierence though).
As usual when you found a bird to look at it moved before I could get the other pair of binoculars ready.
Will try early tomorrow morning and see.
Worst part is trying to make sure that the diopter is focused correctly.
Will keep trying though.
Does anyone know if thr Bushnells should have the eyepieces fully extended (no glasses) or fully in. Instructions are not that clear.

Neil | I think it literally only matters if you do wear glasses. If you do, push the eyepieces in, if not pull them out | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
