| | | Cooking over a camp fire. Hi there,
I have previously seen a grill for cooking over a camp fire and am trying to get hold of one. It was rectangular (about 50cms by 100cms) and had legs which folded out from under it. I have found a picture of something similar but at: Campfire Grills - Campfire Grill - Cooking whilst Camping - Get Camping
Does anyone know where I could find one of these in the UK?
Thanks.

| | | Re: Cooking over a camp fire. Hi, and welcome to WAB Alastair, have you tried some of those outdoor shops like Millets or Army surplus stores. Mind you I agree with Coasty in that it's just extra weight to carry if you are hiking and camping and there are numerous ways to cook over an open fire using whatever you can find. Good luck. |

| | | Re: Cooking over a camp fire. if you really need to carry some kind of grill. Why not try a cake cooling rack or something similar. be light, cheap (probably find one in a pound shop) You could improvise a way of supporting it. |

| | | Re: Cooking over a camp fire. If you are looking for a camp grill Why not do what was taught to me as a very young boy and take a coil of wire with you? This plus 4 sticks lashed together in a square and wire wrapped over it makes a great grill that can be supported on rocks,.. I reckon you could survive quite well with some wire and a kelly kettle ( see seperate thread) for a few days quite well,, You could even buy the pan accessory for the kettle if you wanted real luxury.
I have done lots of lightweight camping and exploring for days on end when I was younger. You really do not need equipment such as you describe you just the absolute basics the enjoyment is much greater..
