Printer and Scanner.

My scanner has packed up. Most likely cause was a lack of use.
As my printer is also on its last legs I'm thinking of getting a Multifunction all in one. For some reason I always end up with Epson and the one I'm considering is the RX585.
I'm also tempted to use the CISS inking system, has anyone here used this and if so what's your opinion of it?

I am using a feed system made by Fotospeed on an r300 and find the quality to be really good I dont know if the inks are all made by the same manufacturer but I suspect so, will watch this thread as I suspect there is someone out there who will know the answere.
I had considered getting an all in one but decided against for the simple reason that there is more to go wrong with it and seperates tend to be less expensive individually.

I fitted a CIS System to my Epson R360 about 4 months ago. It's worked faultlessly since then.

I used their ink as well. I don't know how it compares to Epsons new inks - I think Epsons are supposed to have a life of about 80 years.

Be careful with some of the newer epson printers as the chips will not let you use any ink other than epsons!

That problem has been solved by some of the third part chip suppliers. The system I'm looking at guarantees it will work with the model I'm looking at.

Thanks! That's the very place I was looking at!

The life of the ink doesn't bother me at all. So long as they last until I get a better shot, it'll do for me!
At the moment I don't print much at all, but these constant feed systems lower the ink costs so much I might be tempted to print far more.

I'll have to remove that link, now I know where you mean!

I was the same as regards printing, due to cost. But the system is supposed to reduce costs by 90%. As far as I'm concerned, these figures are pretty accurate. I now print out any decent shot on A4.
I get the A4 paper from fleabay ( it looks like I can't post recommendations ! ).
I've just bought 50 sheets of A4 x 235gsm fo £11.98 including postage (24p each).

I have a HP 1215 all in one printer, and though it's excellent for copying, scanning etc. I wouldn't print photographs with it as the quality isn't that great, which I think is the majority of opinion on all in one printers.

I've decided on the Epson RX685.At the moment this is being heavily discounted at a few well known retail on line stores, so much so that it's cheaper than the lower specified RX585.
I'm also going to get one of the CISS ink systems to use with it. Paying the equivalent of .38p for a cartridge is too good to miss.

If you are switching from Epson cartridges to a CISS ink system you will probably find you need to get profiles done for each paper/ink combination you intend using. This costs in the region of £25 per profile, worth looking to see if CISS offer a profiling service.
