| | | Re: Printer and Scanner. I also use 'third party inks' in my Epson printer and have done so for around 4/5 years. So far I have had no problems with either of the two printers I have had during this time.
I have at times used Epson Original Cartridges to compare the print quality and couldn't see any difference. This being the case I have used 'third party inks/cartridges' from a well known company, who fully guarantee there use and any damage they may cause the printer.
I see know reason why original cartridges should be so expensive when compared to 'third party ones'. The third party ones I use are not 'refills' but manufactured cartridges that hold more ink than the originals yet they are 1/3 the cost approximately.

There again there's many different suppliers and some are so cheap it does make me wary of using them. I buy from a supplier that guarantee the inks will cause no problems, they're not the cheapest but I'm more than happy so far to use them. | I too had previously been using third party inks for a considerable number of years in both Canon and Epson printers without any problems. It was only when I purchased the R800 and tried third party inks from the same supplier that I had problems. The colours were dreadful and it looked just like an oil slick on the photograph. It may well have been something to do with the gloss optimiser reacting with the ink, so I now play safe and stick to Epson inks in the R800 for photographs but still use third party cartridges in our general purpose printer.
