flower/insect fieldguides

Hi

does anyone know of any good field guides / books on the wild flowers and insects of southern portugal / algarve ?

I'm not sure about guides specific to there but for flowers 2 that may be useful are Flowers of SW Europe by Polunin/Smythies (Oxford press) + Mediterranean Wild Flowers by Blamey/ Grey-Wilson which has fabulous plates.

As for insects there are plenty of good European butterfly guides + for dragonflies there's the excellent Dragonflies of Britain + Europe by Dijkstra/Lewington.

I'm not aware of a general insect guide for that area. There is Collins Complete Mediterranean Wildlife a photoguide by Paul Sterry but covers everything, so probably not that much practical help with a few pages of insects, with Lepidoptera + Odonata dominating these.

I've got the butterflies & dragons. I did fancy the mediterranean wildflowers by Blamey but it's out of print now and people are asking £50-60 for it
The flowers of SW europe looks interesting though!
