| | | Leica Passport I have had a pair of leica trinovids 10x42 bins for just over two years and find them excellent. I use them every day, if im not out walking with them i take them to work. I go walking along the coast wader watching quite a bit and the other week it was really windy. As a result sand got into the eyepiece (the bit you pull out if you dont wear glasses) Unlike swarovski you cant unscrew the eyepiece to clean them. I cleaned them. very gently i might add using a blower to remove dirt from the obective lens and noticed small scratches had appeared on the lenses. Also there looks like there is a small piece of dust/dirt on the inside of the objective lens.
I contacted the camera shop i use and took in the passport (guarantee) as requested. They told me in the shop they thought leica would replace the objective lenses and clean up any remaining sand, which i thought was really good of them. I havent received them back yet so i will let every one know how i get on.
Has anyone else made use of the leica passport and how did you find there customer relations.

| | | Re: Leica Passport I sent my Leica 62mm scope back to Leica UK last week after I noticed that the focus seemed less than optimum. I seem to remember it getting a slight knock the last time I was out birding. Anyway they e-mailed and wrote to me saying all they needed was my proof of purchase and that the repair would be covered under the guarantee. Leica come under some stick for their after sales service but I personalty have never had a problem. I have two of their scopes 77 and 62mm and a pair of 8x32BN binoculars and have used their UK services several times. |

| | | Re: Leica Passport Hi barontan,
Thanks for replying im glad to hear they treated you well. I have read a few articles on photography forums and there seems to be a mixed response to lieca and there guarantee, thats why i posted the thread.
I havent got them back yet so i will reserve judgement for now...
