| | | Second camera body choice. I'm about to finally choose my lens replacement. As well as this I'm going to get a second body, and I'm starting to think the unthinkable; that is not get a Canon but a Nikon!
The D300 specification looks so good especially its high ISO performance.
What I'm thinking of doing is getting the lens to match the new body, and leave it on for good, Keeping my 20D to use with my 150mm and my 10-20mm.
Is this utter madness?? About the only potential problem I can see is if I had a problem with either body, I can't swap the lenses over...The more I think about the idea, the more I like it! |

If you switch to Nikon you can be sure it won,t stop at just the one lense for long which can prove to be an expensive switch.
Personally I would stick with Canon.

As above, leapfrogging will go on and on.

| | | Re: Second camera body choice. You don't want to go the Nikon route, Graham, as you will then contract NAS (for which there is no known cure). Having both systems, in my opinion, is not really a good idea due to the obvious incompatibility dilemma.
Nikon and Canon glass, especially the pro-spec lenses, are as good as each other, and there's far too much drivel written about which system is best, especially now that Nikon have introduced new models. Most DSLR cameras will outperform their users, these days. Although a Nikon user, I would have no hesitation moving to Canon if that system enabled me to get the images I want, but so far that necessity has not arisen. Unless you find your present system unable to perform to your requirements, and you need the high ISO performance now, I'd stick with what you have.

Gerry | Graham I agree with Gerry. The 'leap frogging' will continue. No sooner will you have got the D300 when Canon will come out with a 'upgrade' which will be that bit better. That is the facts in these days of 'advancing technology and we the users will never be satisfied.
However at the end of the day the decision is yours.

I did think about it, a decent nights sleep and the effects of my drugs wearing off and common sense kicked in!
My second camera body will be a 40D, or should I say it will become my first camera body! |
