| | | recording night visitors... Apologies if this has been covered - if so, then please point me in the right direction....
I've a fox coming to scavange under my bird feeders at night... as well as rats and who knows, maybe a badger. I'm thinking about recording what happens at night, either by video or my camera (canon 20D). Whats the best way to go about it? What system do you use? Should I purchase an infrared shutter release for my camera, or purchase a digital video camera? I don't have TV access, but i do have a computer nearby. Should I purchase a standard CCTV type night-time domestic surveillance system? Any thoughts?
The equipment would all be used behind glass patio doors, either with outside lights on or off.
thanks,
Zek. |

| | | Re: recording night visitors... there is a cheaper way to see whats visiting your garden at night.. place a tray down where you think the animals are walking, fill and level it with damp sand, hopefully you should be able to identify your visitors from there tracks. if you have interesting visitors then it may be worth investing in some cctv.

| | | Re: recording night visitors... You could try setting up your 20D with a TC-80NE remote which you can set to take shots at given intervals throughout the night or until the cf card is full. Lighting and shooting through glass may be a problem but it would give you an indication of what goes on at night before investing in more expensive equipment.
