Cheap Binoculars on ebay

i brought a pair of 10 x 50 bresser binoculars from lidls..thought they would be rubbish but they have a bright clear image easily as good as my bushnell ones that cost over a hundred.. they are selling these on ebay for 25 quid.. they are well worth it so if u see bresser binoculars cheap.. don't hesitate they are exellent quality.. made in germany.. bargain of the month for me... hope the ones u brought are ok tho mate.. james

I can second that. I got a pair for astronomy and they're very good considering the price. Check the Lidl website as they tell you in advance what offers are comong up , but I think they sell out quick as the astronomy/birdwatching forums let each other know when they're up for sale.

I have to agree with everything eeyore said im afraid. Anything on ebay that seems to be a total bargain is usually misleading...and will be chinese junk. That said, its not like you have wasted lots of money and they will be useful for something. But i also agree if you go beyond the commonly used 8x42 or 10x50 then you would be better off with a scope...but again..i myself was looking into scopes on ebay and there is a hell of a lot of "great looking" cheap bargain junk scopes on there. As with binoculars...they say anything under a couple of hundred quid is not worth having i would imagine with scopes anything under 4-500 quid is not worth having either...Im not saying these things dont work but i would imagine within a few months you will already be looking to upgrade...so in the long run your going to waste money.

And dont believe all that buying in bulk, cutting out the middle man balony...its all a scam...i should know...i was an ebayer power seller for a long time dealing in electric guitars.
Get yourself a tripod ( again not too cheap or it will wobble all over the place and the joints/adjustable bits will work lose) for your large zoom bins and use them as your sea watching bins?
Good luck....and maybe in future if your looking to buy stuff on ebay ...before you commit come see us in here and im sure many of us would give you an honest opinion or " Dont touch with a barge pole" advice. And i also respect that not everyone has hundreds to spend on gear ( im a mature student right now so im in the same boat) my bins were £200 pound jobbies from bushnell but i got them from an online shop in the states for around £120 and got away with the import/customs tax...which is something else you need to watch.

Thats great mystictonka, but the difference is Bushnell is a respected, quality brand...and unless the ebayer was selling fake ones which is unlikely then you cant really go wrong. But this SAKURA brand that jamie has bought is not a recognised or respected quality brand and i suspect at this price level between 15- 25 pounds there are many binoculars all churned out exactly the same but badged and labelled by many unknown obscure makes.

Ebay is NOT all bad...i have had some major results from it..and have made a lot of money myself...but unless you know ebay well its a scam ridden rip off place.Obviously sticking to well known name brands on anything wether it be cameras, birding gear, guitars, etc is normally ok....but of course name brands in clothing, sporting equipment,etc are normally counterfeits.

Yes I totally agree, but you can do a bit of digging, i checked with Bushnell themselves with the sellers name & they do supply them direct, alot of companys now have ebay shops as there are no overheads. All that & enough time to bid!!

I would never by anything electronic or electric though

Thats not directed at you though Dan, my mate bought a battery for his laptop, £10 new, add to that the £4000 to repair the damage to the house after the fire & its not such a good bargain!

I bought exactly the same Bushnell binos from eBay at a third of the retail price, they're excellent!
